Black Box Music

Kontraklang eröffnet die Saison 2018 mit einem Gastspiel von dem Kopenhagener Ensemble Scenatet, das an den Schnittstellen von Musik, Kunst und Theater arbeitet. Auf dem Programm steht die Berliner Erstaufführung von Simon Steen-Andersens audiovisueller Arbeit Black Box Music, die er für den Solisten und Dirigenten Håkon Stene und Ensemble schrieb. Das installative Konzertstück hat das Nordic Music Prize gewonnen und wurde dazu als eines der bedeutendsten Werke des 21. Jahrhunderts ausgezeichnet. Zwei weitere Werke bilden zusammen mit Black Box Music einen vielfältigen musiktheatralischen Konzertabend: die Uhraufführung von einem neuen Werk von Christian Winter Christensen und einem Werk der polnischen Komponistin Jagoda Szmytka.

Kontraklang opens the 2018 season with a guest performance by the Copenhagen-based Ensemble Scenatet, who works at the borders of music, visual art and theater. The program includes the Berlin premiere of Simon Steen-Andersens audio-visual work Black Box Music, which he composed for the soloist and conductor Håkon Stene and ensemble. This installation concert has won the Nordic Music Prize and was also voted one of the most important works of the 21st century. Two other works form together with Black Box Music a diverse music-theatrical concert evening: the world premiere of a new piece by Christian Winter Christensen and a piece by the Polish composer Jagoda Szmytka.
